SINGER SONGWRITER SCIENTIST
I sing stories. About life, love, getting by, the magical, the miserable, the mundane.
Writing songs is how I explore the world. How I wonder and wander. How I make time to think. Almost anything can inspire a song: a look, a line, truths, lies, everything in between.
I have always sung words, in one way or another. I started writing songs when I was a teenager. But I only started sharing my songs six years ago. It's been a rollercoaster ride, but I'm so happy I took the plunge. I love making music and collaborating with talented musicians and producers. My first two albums were made with Joe Davison at Auburn Jam Music. He nurtured my songwriting and is a creative, patient and high-quality producer. For the new album, I worked with the team at Soho Sonic Studios, all of whom were excellent. We had a lot of fun and I learned so much from them. I'm so happy with the album - I hope you like it too.
Several of my songs have made the finals and semi-finals of the UK Songwriting Competition and they have been well received. But for me, it is when someone contacts me to say a song has touched them, helped them, seems to be written just for them that I feel I've done something worthwhile.
If you like Joni Mitchell, Sade, Norah Jones, Kate Bush, Amy Winehouse you may like my music. Give it a whirl............
I am also a Doctor and Scientist using genetic discoveries to help treat and prevent cancer. This is rewarding in many ways and gives me inspiring insights into the human spirit.
Thank you for listening. It means a lot that you chose to.
